Hi, I am Kelly Garner and thank you for stopping by. I am a Holistic Nutritionist and a Certified Micronutrients Specialist and now a student of Herbalism. I am always looking for ways to enhance my Holistic practice and to further help my clients. I believe that continuing ones education is the key to keeping up with all the newest, latest and greatest ways to heal oneself. I specialize in Auto Immune conditions, Food intolerance, Food reintroduction and the Ketogenic diet for Neurological issues and weight loss. I believe that there is no one diet for everyone and each person has individual needs when it comes to nutrition and healing. My favorite part of my job is to create unique and individualized recipes for those with food intolerances so they can feel normal when it comes to foods.
My journey started back in 2006 when I was diagnosed with a rare form of narcolepsy and was put on a several prescription medications to keep me awake, keep me from having sleep attacks, stop my narcoleptic sleep and for depression caused by my narcolepsy. After enduring several years of this lifestyle of being on several different prescription medications prescribed by my neurologist who stated I would be on these medications the rest of life (Provigil, adderall, vyvanse, streterra, zoloft and nortriptyline) I decided to try an alternate approach and went to an integrative medical doctor and he took me off all the medications I was on and prescribed phentramine to keep me awake, fluoxetine to bring me down and he decided to kept me on the nortriptyline for sleep and depression. When my blood work came back he told me I was having thyroid issues aka hypothyroidism and put me on NatureThroid 3 grain tablet. I found myself not feeling well again and I no longer felt that being on prescription medication was the answer because they always made me feel horrible. I decided that I needed to make changes in my life and I started first with major dietary changes, followed by lifestyle changes and exercises changes. By incorporating these changes, I was able to wean myself off all my prescription medications. I continued to follow a very strict Auto Immune Protocol for a full 18 months while continuing to do as much research as possible, which by the way, took countless hours but with the time spent and 100% of my energy on healing, my hypothyroidism is non-existent and my narcolepsy is in complete remission.
But those dietary changes that I did caused other issues (adrenal fatigue, insulin resistance and pre-diabetes) So with a hunger for more knowledge, I decided to learn all I could about Nutrition and so I enroll in school and become a Holistic Nutritionist. Through my Nutritional schooling I learned about micronutrients and how if the body becomes depleted in certain nutrients then disease can set in. This fascinated me and so I found a program that was specific to micronutrients and took the course and became a Certified Micronutrient Specialist. So now what do I do with all this information and education? I decided that I could be of help to others but this was a tough decision for me because I am not a young college student but a mother of 4 grown children ages 23 to 31 and grandmother to 5 and soon to be 6 . I was already retired and ready to spend the rest of days just living the good life but I now wanted more. I really want to help others heal and enjoy a full life. I want to educate my clients so they don’t have to waste countless hours doing research then trying to decide, through trial and error if something is going to work or not. I have personally been through this several times but I now have the eduction and the personal history to know what works and what doesn’t, there is a lot of information out there that is good but there is also a lot of information out there that is bad. So don’t go out there alone, help is right here. You can contact me for your free consultation.
